On this week's episode of #TheBusinessShow, I discussed major reasons why many people are poor even when they claim to be entrepreneurs or business people.
Most people are traders and not business people.
On #BusinessClinic segment, I explained the difference between trading and doing business.
Aliko Dangote started out as a trader, but he saw opportunities and he transformed into business and he has been doing business ever thereafter.
You are a trader if what you do is just to buy and sell for a margin.
Traders don't have a registered company.
Traders don't have plans for their businesses, simply buy and sell.
Traders don't employ people who can think for them, only sales reps, shop boy, office assistance etc
Traders don't care about customer service, they will say, "my customers will come"
Traders don't sell dreams and visions, they only sell commodities.
Traders sell other people's brand, because they have no brand of theirs.
Traders don't have financial statements and they see no need for it.
Traders don't seek for consultants' or legal advice.
Running a business is not just about opening shop every morning and sell to people, it is a whole lot more than that.
