XENOPHOBIA - LIKE JBOUGH, LIKE LAGOON

The world has come against the current act of war against foreigners in South Africa today.

The unfortunate thing is we are more worried that the war is against fellow blacks. Much more the fact that the blacks being killed helped them years back, same people, not their forefathers but since there welcome has been long overstayed, there presence is no more needed.

While I pondered about that I was really shocked by the reactions of Nigerians and some have even started unpatronising firms from SA.

This morning on ChannelsTV, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa confirmed that Dangote, Oando and other Nigerian businesses in SA are almost dead as they are not patronised.

She talked on the sad and bitter experiences Nigerians face living and doing business in SA. She worried at the cause of this and she requested the SA government to compensate Nigerians who have lost their valuables.

While this act has gone really bad and I condemn it in totality, I am more worried because fellow Nigerians were thrown into the Lagoon barely a week to the last elections.

The Oba of Lagos (Kabiesi ooo) gave the command jokingly as quoted which the world heard and he was applauded by those it favoured and others felt bad and it caused panic amongst fellow Nigerians because our love, unity and brotherhood was further shattered, battered and divided.

Even though the Igbos make our economy boom and dare what others won't do, it should remain as such and nothing more and when they were having impact in the area of politics they were relocated into the Lagoon.

The South African King gave the matching order that non-indigenes should leave as his people do not have work to do anymore which resulted into the inferno.

The Lagos governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola SAN, did same a couple of years or so. I learnt a governor in the South East did same too, so no hypocrisy here, let's call a spade a spade.

Do we want others on our lands or not. If no, then state in the constitution but that would be infringing on the fundamental human right of free movement and liberty of association.

I really hope Nigeria, Africa and the world in general will come out hard this time and discourage such thoughts, words and act of Xenophobic tendencies in totality and see fellow human beings as brothers of same flesh and blood and not be deceived or bothered of tribe, tongue and name.

I hope we will nip this bud in the eye and not only crucify South Africans who claim to be defending their territories and their economy.

I hope we will start from our home by loving and showing true love to fellow Nigerians FIRST and not wish anyone into the Lagoon which was achieved in JoBough.

I wish we all will see the abundant potentials in us all and admit that we all can succeed anywhere we are and that someone's success does not and can not hinder or limit ours.

I wish this word -Xenophobia- never existed and that we all are truely citizens of the same country and Nation -the Earth.

God bless you!
